  • Research on Evaluation of academic journals' Influence by Introducing Altmetrics Indicators:Taking International Journals of Library and Information Science as an Example

    Online scientific communication and open access are becoming more frequent under the Web2.0 environment. Traditional citation indicators have been impossible to fully evaluate the influence of academic journals. Introducing Altmetrics indicators can provide reference for selection of evaluation indicators of influence and model optimization of academic periodicals, as well as provide new ideas for improving the current status of evaluation of academic journals' influence.This article takes International Journals of Library and Information Science as an example, then combines 8 traditional citation indicators and introduces 12 Altmetrics indicators to construct a comprehensive evaluation model of academic journals' influence based on traditional citation indicators and Altmetrics indicators. In addition, this paper systematically constructs periodicals' evaluation index system which is from two dimensions: the academic influence and social influence. Finally, by means of factor analysis, principal component analysis and correlation analysis, the primary influence and social influence of academic periodicals are evaluated, and the results of two-dimensional evaluation of academic journals' influence are obtained.Firstly, the evaluation model of academic journals' influence constructed by introducing Altmetrics indicator has certain practical value. Secondly, there is strong positive correlation between the 8 traditional citation indicators based on JCR. Thirdly, most of the 12 Altmetrics indicators are strongly positive correlated based on the Altmetrics Explorer. Finally, there is a strong positive correlation on the score of academic journals' influence evaluation between native citation indicators and social Altmetrics indicators. Meanwhile, the latter has a better complement to the former, and the Altmetrics indicators score also has certain foresight to the citation score.

    Choosing newspaper articles which are less concerned in academia as research subjects, this paper proposes a compound evaluation model combining the academic influence and social influence and builds an innovative and feasible evaluating scheme to measure the influence of newspaper articles, so as to improve the evaluation system of scientific publications. Based on the perspective of integrating citation measurement and Altmetrics, this paper selects the evaluating indicators for academic and social influence drawn from the citation numbers and the web-based altmetric resources according to the different features of newspaper articles. Based on the theory of Analytic Hierarchy Process, coefficient of variation, TOPSIS and Grey Relation Analysis, the evaluation indicators and compound evaluation model for newspaper articles are constructed. Taking the articles published on the theoretical pages of Guangming Daily as the evaluation objects, the complete evaluation process from the indicator data collection to the final result calculation is finished, and the feasibility of the evaluation method is verified. The theoretical analysis and empirical research show that the compound model integrating citation measurement and Altmetrics for the influence evaluation of newspaper articles works and the findings are persuading. The strategy combining TOPSIS with Grey Relation Analysis can effectively avoid the problem of heterogeneous features between different indicators, and also tolerate some poor distributions or missing data.

    Based on a detailed analysis to the process of scientific communication under the context of digitalization and network, the stakeholders of Altmetrics evaluation are identified under the context of information production, information media and information utilization, and the function needs and evaluation indices for stakeholders of Altmetrics evaluation are discussed from three aspects of research achievement, achievement display and needs discovery ,all of which derived from the new characteristics of scientific communication in the new context. It is found that: the context of digitalization and network provides a new opportunity to enrich the scientific communication and a new reality to expand the theory and practice of scientific and technological evaluation, it is of importance to combine the formal communication and informal communication and to design responding evaluation indicators in Altmetrics evaluation.

    Under the background of Double World-class construction in China, all universities have been developing on their most advantageous disciplines and resources. A well-built structure of faculty is a key to a stable university. We proposed a 4D visualization model which consists of age structure, degree structure, graduation structure, and title structure. The 4D visualization model can reveal the faculty construction situation of a unit vividly, rather than displaying it by facts and sheets. The model showed the visualization of 1123 faculties from 56 iSchools in the world from the perspective of tiers and regions respectively. The results show that the biggest proportion of faculties are professors with doctoral degree and different education background; there is a tendency that iSchools in Tier 3 and Tier 2 are developing toward Tier 1; iSchools in Asia Pacific and Europe could enroll more younger teachers from other countries.
  • How the Intermediaries of Health Information Acquisition Impacts Health Literacy: An Investigation from the View of Urban-rural Heterogeneity

    As the significant determinate and predictor of health, health literacy draws much attention globally. China started the work stream on developing the general health literacy very early. However, some problems are still existing such as the unequal development level of health literacy between urban and rural areas, and uneven recognition level of health problems among different groups. This study is based on the literature review and posits several hypotheses on the health literacy distribution between urban-rural areas, and the heterogeneous effects of different information intermediaries on health literacy improvement respectively. A set of empirical models are distributed to attest the hypotheses. Then the cross-sectional data from China Health and Nutrition Survey(CHNS) of the year 2015 is employed and the least square regression is used to estimate the empirical models. Several conclusions are drawn from the results: The difference of health literacy exists significantly between urban and rural areas.Although health information acquisitions have general positive effects on health literacy, the ICT source contribute more than other intermediaries.The ICT source contributes more positive effects on health literacy in rural settings compared with that in urban environment.

    The paper adopts a historical analysis method. By analyzing the transformation of the main research objects, organizational structure and the kinds of scientific research institutions of scientific organization paradigm in each period, we finally sort out the transformation of the scientific organization paradigm, and deeply analyze the historical evolution of scientific research institutions. Based on the development tendency of data-driven science, collaborative science, open science and citizen science, the author believes that scientific research institutions are developing to data-intensive scientific paradigm, and the management paradigm shows more characteristics of cross-institution, inter-discipline, openness and clear responsibility. In the future, the public need to take part in scientific research activities with the guidance of an open-participation scientific research organization paradigm, thus promoting the scientific research industry to move forward.

    Academic mentorship is a kind of mentorship emerging from scientific research activities that has an important impact on the inheritance and upgrade of scientific knowledge. This study makes a systematic summary on the basic contents, main effects, research values, project cases and future developments of academic mentorship, aiming to provide implications for related research in China. Our main results are: Not only scientific knowledge but also spiritual qualities are passed on through academic mentorships; The effects of mentorship mainly include demonstration effect of mentor, synergetic effect of teamwork, and mentor's social function; Research on academic mentorship is important for the understanding and construction of science's inner structure, operation pattern and academic tradition; Our country's research on academic mentorship and construction of academic genealogy databases has just started and shows a vast space for development.

    Human-computer interaction technology is an important research content in the field of Digital Library in the era of artificial intelligence, and it is also one of the key technologies in the construction of ancient South China Sea chart digital library. By analyzing the challenges and opportunities faced by digital libraries in the era of artificial intelligence, this paper probes into the development process and research status of human-computer interaction technology in digital libraries, and constructs an intelligent human-computer interaction technology system for digital libraries. This paper analyzes the intelligent environment and takes the ancient South China Sea chart as an example to study its intelligent man-machine interaction application system.Intelligent human-computer interaction technology system can transform user's psychology, behavior and state (input) and digital library's information and knowledge (output) into mutual understanding knowledge content by means of natural and intelligent information metaphor, thus realizing natural, flexible and intelligent human-computer interaction mode.

    In August 2018,IFLA issued a Global Vision report entitled "A strong and united library field powering literate, informed and participative societies". Through investigation of answers of all libraries in the world to six key questions such as "What is the core value of library?" the report put forward 10 highlights and 10 developing opportunities for libraries at present. The paper interpreted the report and believes that libraries in our country should shoulder social responsibility, promote cooperation and improve publicity. At the same time, we should be good at grasping the trend and capturing opportunities so as to adapt to the changes.

    This paper surveys the development of research support services by comparing research support services of 24 university libraries of the Russell Group in United Kingdom by network and literature research methods. In addition, this paper analyzes these services by library's policies and practices. Finally, this paper summarizes that the main contents provided by these university libraries including scientific research influence measurement, open access, publishing, institutional repository, scientific data management, and skill and research ethic training. China's university libraries should investigate the needs of researchers; more attention should be paid to library's strategic plans; flexible working groupsbe built and professional academic support librarians be employed; attach importance to open access and academic publishing; emphasize research data management services.

It is the important practice to construct and improve the world first-class subject evaluation system.On the basis of clarifying the connotation and main pattern of the world class subject evaluation service, this paper analyzes the status and development needs of the world class subject evaluation service.It is found that the realization path of the world class subject evaluation service is to collect the big data , knowledge organization and knowledge service of the world first-class subjects.

    Based on Participatory Design to "User Participatory Design". PD is an important method in anthropological research. The PD theory and method are introduced into the design of space and service in American university libraries, which realizes the deep interaction between Library and users. PD's methods and theories are used in the research project of the ALC of Purdue University and native student needs of University of Oklahoma library. The establishment of interdisciplinary project team, the adoption of multiple data collection methods, and the inspiration to ensure the active and full participation of the users have provided experience for the development of the PD project of the University Library in China.

    Data citation can clarify data accountability, establish data credits, and promote data sharing, reusing and impact assessment, but technical, institutional and cultural issues are there to interfere the job. This paper analyzes the advantages of academic libraries in promoting data citations. Considering the existing relevant work，it proposes four roles in data citation work: the makers of citation specifications, the providers of citation services, the advocates of citation, and the developers of citation tools. Finally, suggestions are made for libraries to emphasize the importance of data citation, actively promote cooperation among stakeholders, improve the data literacy curriculum system, and promote the construction of the legal system for the development of academic libraries in China.

    Theoretical research offered great help for the practical development of data literacy. The paper generalizes the features of data literacy project in the United States, and it takes a value appraisal for research outputs. Then, it introduces the background, implement process and outcomes of Data Information Literacy Project and summarizes its theoretical, methodological and documentary value. Furthermore, it presents some suggestions to promote the further development of data literacy research and education practices for China, which include defining boundary and refining topics of data literacy, organizing interdisciplinary study and communication, implement data literacy education at different levels, integrating teaching approach and development measure instruments of data literacy.

This paper discusses the new challenges and new opportunities in the development of scientometrics in the era of big data from three aspects, which are the deepening of theory and methods, extensive practical application, development opportunities and challenges. The main contribution of this paper to the field of scientometrics is providing a view to clearly presenting future of scientometrics research and scientific evaluation.

    Jiezi Yuan Painting was compiled and  copied by Wang Ji et al circulated in Emperor Kangxi 's reign. After its appearance, scholars in the East And West studied and disseminated the painting and many different versions came into being,of which the woodcut version in Emperor Kangxi's reign and Chao Xun's lithography copy version were popular in the west. It is found by compare the two versions that the woodcut version was the pioneer and Chao Xun's version was better in painting and was spread more widely.
