  • The Study on the Norm of Journal Use Data

    Journal use data is very important to the library’s development and the academic assessment. China has achieved lots of achievements since stated to research and count the journal use data in the 1980s. Meanwhile there are also many problems need to be solved, such as the limits of traditional count methods, the citation fetishism, the superficiality of use data counted now, the lack of cooperation between the organizations who count the data and low efficiency of data use. These problems are resulted from the unclear self-understanding of libraries, the problems exist in the library management system, and the library-tasks design, shortage of funds and human resources and many other reasons. Through drawing on the experiences of foreign countries’ practices, the author thinks that the libraries, publishers and other groups should cooperate strongly, make statistic standards, create unified statistic platform and get as many funds as possible in the future.

    This article introduces some traditional methods of the journalsutilizationstatistics and analyzes some problems existing in utilization statistics of paper journals and digital journals. Then the article discusses the origin, development and definition of Altmetrics in detail, and points out that Altmetrics is a new type of metrologyto inspect social networks under Web2.0. The article also gives a detailed analysis of the difference of Altmetrics and traditional metrology based on the study object, the attitude of impact factor, data acquisition, time of occurrence, the influence and peer review. Finally, the article reaches a conclusion that open access journal is one of the best ways to count utilizationstatistics of journals. We should achieve the open access of the traditional journals step by step in order to count the utilization statistics in-depth and timely.Finally we can improve the utilization ratio of journals.

    Usage statistics of digital journals plays a key role in evaluating journals. The paper points out the existing problems in the developing situation of Chinese digital journals usage statistical indicators, then divides Chinese digital journals usage statistical indicators into different types according to the usage level and depth of journals. An analysis of meanings, function and statistical methods of the indicators is presented, thus gives a reference to the study and application of the indicators.

    Journal occupies an extremely important position in the building of the library literature resources, periodical librarian should improve their knowledge structure with the times, in order to meet the requirements of periodical management in digital times. Periodical librarians’ knowledge structure is an important indicator of professional quality. By researching the periodical librarians’ cognitive situation about knowledge structure, and analyze the problems which are existing in the periodical librarians’ knowledge structure building, at the same time explore a more comprehensive system of knowledge structure, so we also could provide reasonable countermeasures for the periodical librarians’ knowledge structure. At the same time, we should clear that the improvement of periodical librarians’ knowledge structure is a gradual process, we could not accomplish at one stroke.

    The changes in social information environment make the demand for information talents different. This article investigates the need of library, information and archival science professionals from different information occupations, including types of recruiting companies, post establishment, post responsibility and ability requirements of different posts. Based on the current situation of information occupation requirement, this article makes suggestions on the reform of library, information and archival science in the aspects of talent training goal, merge of disciplines, curriculum and practice ability cultivation.
  • The Modernization Transformation of Library Science in China——From Ancient Collation Theory to Modern Library Science

    In ancient China, both the library cause and library science (collation theory) appeared, which were so flourishing that the western countries of the time were difficult to approach the greatness. In the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, with the creating of new libraries, the input of exotic culture and the sustained development of western learning, the traditional collation theory had evolved into "Library science with Chinese characteristics" under the influence of Europe and the United States library science. In the evolution process of collation theory modernization, the library management method, service concept and education concept had gained popularity, and the western-style library science system, professional education and academic platform had been established. The goal of modern library science development is to establish the public, scientific and Chinese-charactered library science, and the experience and enlightenment of which is adhering to the localization, integrating into the world and expanding the growth point.

    In Economic Valuation of the British Library，by a set of detailed data，the 2011112 British Library economic and social benefits are shown. Its cost-benefit ratio (BCR) is 1:5.1，and shows a very high VfM (Value for Money) in a result of direct cost-benefit assessment. In addition，the report contains some profound humanistic philosophy. British Library Non- use survey results are 412.8 million，accounting for 74% in total benefits. By Multi-criteria analysis (MCA)，a survey of user's using propensity is done with 16 evaluation factors thus providing a useful reference for libraries to improve service.

    The paper utilizes knowledge mapping tool to show the physical education development from 2000 to 2011 in China. We draw the knowledge maps of term co-occurrence, document co-citation, author co-citation and co-author based on core sports journals in CSSCI. This research would be helpful for detecting research hotspots, tracing important references, and so on.

    Extracting existed knowledge output metadata belonging to institute members from other systems is an important way  for building  institutional  repositories. This  article analyses the methods of  metadata sharing of  some  common knowledge resource management systems, provides three metadata  acquisition strategies. Attempts are made to solve the problem of author disambiguation combining with technologies of semantic web. Finally, the system collects metadata form WOS for testing. The result shows the automatic metadata acquisition method based on the researcher ontology can do the greatest possible to collect metadata form other systems, and which is a good solution for author disambiguation.

AR enhance to the cognition、understanding and interact with physical scene. With the rapid development of mobile Internet technology, mobile AR App used on Smartphone has attracted widely attention. Mobile AR App has made a great progress in the field of culture and education abroad, applying to ancient buildings research, museum, augmented tour, campus navigation, ancient book reading etc. Mobile AR App has huge potential for growth in contemporary library, include augmenting physical book stacks browsing, augmented reality books, library navigation, optical character recognition, facial recognition etc.

    Starting from the characteristics of technology related of family patents, we creat a method of patents polymerization using the theory of social network analysis.First using a kind of method called “latent semantic analysis” to extract the family patents’relationship,then visualizing the relationship by the network map.The conclusion is that the method can quantify patents’core technology features and cluster the patents,and promoting the efficiency of enterprise ’patent strategy making.

    On the basis of literature review on foreign Information Grounds theory, the  article gives an analysis and a summary of the foreign research on the theory of Information Grounds, and discusses the theory from its definition, origin and development. The construction  and expansion of the Information Grounds theory under multiple perspectives are introduced in detail. Besides, through two typical cases of the information behavior of Washington East King County urban and rural residents and the Hispanic migrant farm workers and their families 'information grounds as examples, this paper introduces foreign information  behavior researches based on the Information Grounds theory. Finallyit summarized the enlightenment of the Information Grounds theory on China's relevant theory research.

    As the founder of Chinese modern library science and librarianship, Yang Zhaozhe and Li Yanting's early library activities are very important documents and historical materials. Yet little attention has been paid and few studies have been lent to them in the library academic circle. In this article the author tries to bring to light the reason for Yang Zhaozhe's to translate Library Science  Guide, his consciousness in composing Library Science suitable to China and thebook's impact. Comments are made on his report and introduction of Japan libraries  made on his way to the United States,  and his friendship with Li Yanting in the United States and their library  activities in China. Primary materials are provided to rediscover the two  librarianship forerunners' little -known early academic activities and,  through  case study, to trace  the historical development of Chinese librarianship and academic activities at the first stage.
