Li Ji's “Biography of Marx”, which was published from 1926 to 1932, is the first original Chinese long biography of Marx in China, which is of epoch-making significance in the history of Marxist publishing and communication in China. This paper takes this book as the research object. On the basis of studying the four versions of Li Ji's “Biography of Marx” in 1929, 1932, 1933 and 1949, using the method of historical textual research, this paper examines the publishing process from the joint publication of three publishing institutions to the independent publication of one publishing institution, and evaluates that "Marx's life, works and theories are in one furnace" and "Without Engels, there is no Marx".This paper explores the value of "summarizing what predecessors have done, which is correct", "shaping the image of Marx with the unity of'warrior' and 'scholar',and"shining for the publishing industry in China",which makes up for the obvious shortcomings of this book.
