The change of value of library as "place" is a crucial factor that profoundly affects the future development of public library. Exploring the changes in public perception of the "place" value of foreign public libraries can help us understand the development trends of international libraries and provide reference for the development of domestic libraries. This paper takes the winners of the IFLA/Systematic Public Library of the Year Award as the research objects, and conducts high frequency words analysis, topic analysis, sentiment analysis and cultural difference analysis based on the online comment text of Google Maps, and explores the public perception of the "place" value of foreign libraries. The results show that in foreign countries, excellent public libraries are well received by the public, and the overall evaluation is extremely positive. Space and place are an important part of the public's perception of library evaluation, and the function of the library as a reading place is still the mainstream understanding of the public. With the changes of the times, the function of the library as a leisure place has become increasingly prominent, and the integration of culture and tourism has become the trend of international library development. Different regions and languages of the public have different perceptions of the "place" value of libraries. Public libraries can also use various network platforms to actively carry out marketing activities to continuously improve the image of the library.
