Abstract

On December 11th, 2020, the council of IFLA unanimously agreed to release the Statement on Libraries and Open and Good Governance as response to The United Nations SDG16----peace, justice and powerful institution. Suggestions were put forward to governments and other related parties about improving policy formulation and implementation through full use of library and information service. By interpretation of the statement, the author proposes that libraries should consolidate service quality and demonstrate social value; take part in the preservation and utilization of government information and increase national consciousness of using library; increase the awareness of social governance and realize the goal of helping sustainable development and good governance by expanding library's social effect.
