Abstract

Reading is an important way to gain knowledge; however, during the process of reading, students often have to work hard to understand the exact meaning of the concept. In view of the problem that the abstract concept is difficult to understand during the reading process, this study tries to use game-based reading to improve reading efficiency and reading effect. Guided by situated cognition theory, the research team designed and developed a game Heart Test with reliability as the content of learning, within which virtual situations and game activities similar to reality are created to allow students to read in specific situations. Students grasp the meaning of the concept gradually by applying knowledge to solve problems in the game. A test is taken to examine the effect of game-based reading by recruiting students to play the game, and the experimental results show that the game situation can effectively promote reading comprehension, and the game mechanism is conducive to improving reading efficiency.
