Abstract

Theoretical research offered great help for the practical development of data literacy. The paper generalizes the features of data literacy project in the United States, and it takes a value appraisal for research outputs. Then, it introduces the background, implement process and outcomes of Data Information Literacy Project and summarizes its theoretical, methodological and documentary value. Furthermore, it presents some suggestions to promote the further development of data literacy research and education practices for China, which include defining boundary and refining topics of data literacy, organizing interdisciplinary study and communication, implement data literacy education at different levels, integrating teaching approach and development measure instruments of data literacy.
