Abstract

This paper studies the distribution pattern and collaboration situation of current "Double First-class" disciplines in China and finds that current "Double First-class" construction in China should avoid excessive competition, and emphasize collaboration and differentiation. The research takes the disciplines and universities listed in "Double First-class" construction as data and analyzes the co-occurrence network of "Double First-class" disciplines in universities and the collaboration structure of co-occurrence "Double First-class" disciplines. The study found that 76% of the research collaboration strength between university-pairs which have co-occurrence "Double First-class" disciplines are lower than the national average, showing that the collaboration between main "Double First-class" disciplines in China is not active. Relatively minority "Double First-class" disciplines, such as astronomy, geological resources and geological engineering, and agricultural and forestry economic management, have good collaboration. In general, in the development of "Double First-class" in China, it is urgent to avoid excessive competition among the same discipline units.
