It is a remarkable feature to get information with interpersonal relationship in everyday life information seeking, and it is of importance to explore the new features under the context of virtual interpersonal relationship and to optimize interpersonal information network for college students in everyday life information seeking. The types of interpersonal relationships utilization and the topics in information seeking were identified in students' daily life with the interview data and small-scale survey data, and the main characteristics of interpersonal relationship utilization were revealed by large-scale sample data in college students' everyday life. The results show that the persons were relatively concentrated from whom college students sought their everyday life information, and a small amount core interpersonal relationship can meet large-scale seeking needs; it is gender, family source and family structure that influence college students' choice in interpersonal relationship utilization; there are significant differences for students in different levels to select interpersonal relationship in their everyday life information seeking, with the graduate students preferring to use e-mail and WeChat and undergraduate students preferring to use QQ; there are some preferences for students to select different interpersonal relationships to meet different information needs in their everyday life information seeking: the blood interpersonal relationships in reality are selected to meet the information needs in deep-seated emotion while the interpersonal relationships related to classmates and colleagues in virtual and real-life context are selected to satisfy the information needs in the business expansion and skill improvement, and the interpersonal relationships related to general friends and virtual world are chosen to fulfill the general information needs in daily life.
