China's library career in the new century is showing a good social image and enterprising spirit, and promoting rational thinking and work exploration based on specialization. Taking city library's practice as example, the author analyzed library's autonomy and professional attributes, city composition, and the nature of library service, emphasizing that professional point of view, deep self-awareness and subject identity were necessary for library development.
