：文章解读了美国图书馆协会（ALA）发布的《2018美国图书馆状况报告》中的公共图书馆部分。认为强调社会责任、注重调查评估是美国公共图书馆开展服务和促进自身可持续发展的两大特点，提出我国公共图书馆应借鉴美国公共图书馆的做法，强化社会责任意识，善于通过社会问题的解决或改善宣传图书馆服务，并应注意服务对象的精准性和服务活动的持续性，同时加强用户调查和服务效果的评估，为提升服务质量和水平提供依据和动力。

This paper is an interpretation of the public library part of State of America's Library Report 2018. The author believes that  emphasizing social responsibility and focus on investigation and evaluation are two major features that help American public libraries act in services and continue to develop. The public libraries in our country should learn from American libraries in emphasizing the awareness of social responsibility and realizing the service by solving social problems. Attention should also paid to accuracy and persistence. Investigation and evaluation of the services are necessary.
