It is of significant importance for public libraries to bridge digital divide by advancing digital inclusion. This paper expounds the research background of digital inclusion and the role of public libraries in promoting digital inclusion, and focuses on the practical characteristics of digital inclusion of American public libraries, including the support and promotion of library organizations, the development of broadband projects and the digital skill training in different areas. The implications for public libraries in China include: developing national digital inclusion strategy, leading the way to digital inclusion by library organizations, improving the network infrastructure of public libraries and offering digital skill training and service for different groups.
